Lake Yard Spring Newsletter
March 2012
Dear Lake Yard Member,
Spring has most certainly sprung here at the yard. Busy boaters scrubbing and buffing, painting and cleaning, contented customers sat on the decking sipping and chomping, chatting and laughing makes Lake Yard a wonderful place right now!
So… what news do we have for you this time? Our marina has been dredged, and our swinging moorings been fully serviced in readiness for a busy summer. Our yard hoist has been lifting and re-launching lots of "pride and joys" and the yard boys have been kept busy with both boat preparation and general yard maintenance.
In the Club, Chris our chef and Robin have been doing lots of shopping. We noticed that right here on our doorstep in Dorset, we have an amazing amount of high quality produce, and we have made it our mission to locate the very best local fish, meat, cheese, vegetables, beer and wines. We have found that not only does it taste better, it is environmentally friendly, and helps our local economy too! So far we have found an amazing local meat supplier who delivers meat direct from the farm in the Tarrant Valley, and a fish supplier who lands their fish here on Poole Quay. We are investigating all kinds of other local produce, and if you have any secret suppliers – we'd love to hear about them!
Something else you could really help us with, is phoning ahead if you're coming to eat. With all these fresh ingredients – it makes things more difficult to keep adequate stocks in. If we think we only have 4 people for supper and 404 turn up, things can get tricky! We really want to make sure we look after you with a good selection of fresh food and enough staff to ensure good quality service.
Not to be outdone by the Twin Sails bridge, we hope to have an opening ceremony for new Deck Bar conducted by the Queen of Lake and the Yard Mayor (subject to staff training on how to open the door, and ensuring there is no loose tarmac on the roof). Keep an eye on your inboxes for special invitation only events. If you have not registered for email alerts – contact us now to make sure you are on the list!
Look forward to seeing you very soon.
Best Regards
